Social Aspects of the Green Transition

Project Summary

The goal of the SoGreen project is to enhance the capacities of the four leading social science research infrastructures in Europe (ESS ERIC, SHARE ERIC, GGP and GUIDE), and generate valuable insights aimed at facilitating the study and evaluation of the social aspects of the green transition for different generations and socioeconomic groups across Europe, using a life-course perspective. Funded by the European Commission, the SoGreen project will collect new data to offer valuable insights into how elements of the European Commission’s European Green Deal affect the general population. By combining survey datasets with geospatial data using innovative visualization tools, the project promises to deliver new insights into the green transition at both national and regional levels.

In the SoGreen project, GGP is leading the process of item development to ensure the survey instruments are inclusive of all age groups, responsive to the nuances of the green transition, and methodologically robust, all while ensuring alignment with the overarching goal of capturing the social dynamics of the green transition across the life course. This process involves reviewing, selection, and adaptation of relevant questionnaire items to be included in the SoGreen module. GGP is also coordinating the fieldwork in two countries, Poland and Croatia, and will be involved in linking the environmental data with the survey data in these two countries.

By participating in SoGreen, GGP contributes to enhancing the capacities of the four leading social science infrastructures in Europe, and generate valuable insights aimed at facilitating the study and evaluation of the social aspects of the green transition for different generations and socioeconomic groups across Europe.
