The Central State Office for Demography and Youth, in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics & Business at the University of Zagreb, hosted a launch event for GGS-II Croatia on March 19, 2024. This gathering, held at the National and University Library in Zagreb, marked the presentation of the preliminary results from the first wave of the GGS-II in the Republic of Croatia. This presentation was a pivotal milestone in comprehending demographic shifts and sets the stage for informed public policy initiatives to tackle societal challenges in Croatia.
Attended by approximately 50 representatives from governmental bodies, academia, and civil society organizations, the event featured opening remarks from Mr. Zvonimir Frka-Petešić, Head of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, serving as the Prime Minister's envoy, and Ms. Željka Josić, State Secretary of the Central State Office for Demography and Youth. Additionally, video messages were shared by Dubravka Šuica, Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Democracy and Demography, and Professor Anne Gauthier, Director of the GGP.
Following these addresses, Ivan Čipin and Petra Međimurec from the Croatian national team presented the key findings, sparking an expert discussion on the implications of the data.
