The GGP is participating in the Social Science and Humanities Open Cloud (SSHOC), which is an infrastructure cluster project. One of the deliverables we are in charge of consists of an experiment collecting audio recordings in quantitative surveys.
On 16 April, SSHOC held a workshop on linking social surveys with linguistic infrastructures through speech interviews. After an introduction by Judith Koops (GGP), Joris Mulder (CentERdata) presented the LISS panel which enables the inclusion of audio recordings in large scale surveys. Dr. Henk van den Heuvel (CLARIN) gave examples of analysis tools which automatically transcribe and analyse audio data. Afterwards, participants were able to discuss the potential of the presented methods in breakout rooms. Recordings of the workshop are available here.
