On June 20th, the Dutch national team and the Generations and Gender Programme (GGP) organised a policy briefing at NIDI in The Hague, titled 'Future Prospects for Individuals and Families?'

The event marked the launch of the GGS-II Wave 1 Netherlands dataset. Lin Rouvroye led discussions on the importance of international comparative research and the challenges of translating scientific insights into policy. Arieke Rijken opened the briefing with an overview of GGP activities and data collection methods.

NIDI researchers shared key findings from the Dutch GGS-II Wave 1 data. Lonneke van den Berg revealed that Dutch young adults with temporary contracts experience lower well-being and higher levels of depression. Daniël van Wijk's research highlighted how housing market conditions affect family formation decisions, with renters in the Netherlands showing lower intentions to have children—a trend not observed in Germany and Austria. Aat Liefbroer pointed out that over 40 percent of older Dutch respondents were single at some point between ages 30 and 50, significantly impacting their prosperity and well-being.
