GGS-Sweden’s lead, Gunnar Andersson, has played a central role in communicating GGS results to policymakers. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson joined a debate article in Svenska Dagbladet on declining birth rates after his staff had been directly briefed on GGS findings regarding fertility decisions. Andersson has also been invited to present evidence from the GGS before the Swedish Parliament and to discuss related policy implications.
Beyond the Parliament and the Prime Minister’s Office, the Social Democratic Party of Sweden and the Department of Finance have also received dedicated briefings on demographic issues and fertility change based on GGS and complementary data sources.
These examples highlight how GGS evidence contributes to national political debates on demographic sustainability and policy responses in Sweden.
