With the support of UNFPA, the Bureau of National Statistics conducted the first wave of the Generations and Gender Survey (GGS) in Kazakhstan and published an analytical report presenting key results from the 2019 data. This report is publicly available on the Bureau’s website and serves as a resource for policymakers, researchers, and other data users.
Beyond the national level, GGS findings have been incorporated into Kazakhstan’s national report for the fourth review and appraisal cycle of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing and its Regional Implementation Strategy (MIPAA/RIS) 2018–2022. Developed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection with technical assistance from UNFPA, the report drew on GGS data to highlight the strong intergenerational solidarity within Kazakhstani society, reflected in the significant provision of family care for older people in need of assistance.
